There were several seasoned players and a band of first-timers for the competition.
And men played against ladies in a spirit of carefreeness.
Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC) recently hosted Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC), the event was not focused on competition but camaraderie as 52 players brought sunshine smiles to the event.
Played on a hot and sunny day at the Tampines Course on June 13, the event embodied the spirit of lasting relationships, enduring friendships and memorable moments. There were 13 flights engaged in a pairs better-ball matchplay format, with the hosts emerging victorious by a 9-4 margin.
The lowest handicapper in each match gave the difference between his or her handicap to the other three players in the flight.
But the result was just for the record books not one to crow about a feeling of superiority.
Personalised lockers and the exchange of gifts on the starting holes bag brought about a deep feeling of true friendship.
Following welcoming remarks by TMCC Deputy Chairman Ashok Kumar and KLGCC Liaison Committee member Dato Ahmad Sufian, representatives of both clubs exchanged commemorative mementoes as a symbol of their friendship.
KLGCC showed their prowess in the Novelty competition with Dato Mohd Nafidz (Hole 4), Muhammad Hazazi (Hole 6) and Lin Qin (Hole 14) taking three of the four Nearest-To-Pin prizes. TMCC’s Chris Chiu won the Nearest-To-Pin prize for Hole 16.
As players gathered for the barbecue dinner, it was clear that all 52 participants were winners. Beyond the results and trophies, they left with treasured memories and shared laughter.
