Chinese New Year Golf Challenge 2026 Rings in Festive Cheer

The Lunar New Year is a time for renewal, prosperity and togetherness — and these auspicious themes were vividly reflected at the Chinese New Year Golf Challenge 2026, where more than 140 Members gathered for a day of spirited golf and festive celebration to usher in the Year of the Horse.

Played on the pristine Tampines Course, 133 golfers teed off under pleasant conditions, setting the tone for a lively competition before gathering later for the celebratory dinner at the Tampines Banquet Room.

The evening kicked off with the unmistakable thunder of war drums as a traditional lion dance troupe brought the festive spirit to life. The energetic performance drew Members to the Pre-Function Room where the lions danced with precision and flair, symbolically ushering in good fortune and prosperity for the year ahead.

Members of the General Committee lined up to receive auspicious couplets from the lions — a customary gesture signifying blessings of harmony, wealth and success for the new year.

One of the evening’s standout moments came when an LED dragon made its dramatic entrance. With the lights dimmed, the illuminated dragon weaved its way through the crowd in a dazzling display, captivating the audience with its vibrant colours and graceful movements.

Adding to the excitement was the appearance of the God of Fortune, whose arrival drew cheers as Members eagerly welcomed his blessings and posed for photographs. To the delight of the crowd, he also conducted the Prosperity Draw, with a $188 F&B Dining Voucher going to lucky Member Mak Swee Wah, adding an extra touch of festive fortune to the evening.

Dinner commenced with the traditional ‘Lo Hei’, as diners enthusiastically tossed the yusheng while exchanging wishes for prosperity, success and good health in the year ahead.

The festive spirit carried through a sumptuous seven-course dinner, while the evening’s emcee kept the energy high with lively interactions and engaging mass games that brought plenty of laughter to the room.

Adding to the festive atmosphere was a delightful live performance by Ywenna Carollin, who accompanied herself on the piano while serenading the audience with a lively repertoire of Chinese New Year favourites and popular songs.

The golf prize presentation followed, recognising the day’s standout performers. Vice-President Chris Chiu presented the novelty prizes, while Captain Dr Goh Hoon Pur and

Lady Captain Wendy Soh awarded the prizes for the Men’s and Women’s Divisions respectively.

Leading the field in the Men’s Division was Member Raymond Lee, who carded an impressive 41 points to clinch the top prize.

In the Women’s Division, Zhang Li Ping emerged victorious with 34 points on countback, edging out the competition in a closely contested finish.

The celebrations continued with the evening’s lucky draw, where 18 prizes were presented by Deputy Chairman Ashok Kumar.

The top lucky draw prize — a TaylorMade Qi35 Driver — was won by Member Chuan Liong Chean, while Simon Tan walked away with the second prize of a TaylorMade R7 Mini Driver.
