Four courses, one coastline, and a shared journey through Vietnam’s most compelling new golf corridor

TMCC 5D4N Da Nang Golf Tour: A Coastal Passage Through Central Vietnam’s Modern Links

Ryan Chia

There are golf trips that feel like itineraries, and then there are those that unfold like a story you half-remember long after the final round has been played. The Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC) 5D4N Da Nang Golf Tour, staged from 12 to 16 May 2026, belonged firmly in the latter category.

Twenty-nine TMCC Members, golfers all, arrived in central Vietnam not in pursuit of novelty alone, but for something more enduring: shared fairways, unfamiliar conditions, and the quiet rhythm that develops when a group moves together through a golf journey.

The tour was facilitated by TMCC General Manager Elliott Gray and guided on the ground by Golfasian’s local team, Huong Ta, Steven and Logan, whose coordination was extremely effective.

Basecamp was the Pullman Danang Beach Resort, a calm coastal setting that framed four distinct rounds: Montgomerie Links Vietnam, Ba Na Hills Golf Club, Legend Da Nang Golf Resort (Norman Course), and Hoiana Shores Golf Club.

Day 1: Montgomerie Links Golf Club opened the week with understatement rather than drama. Colin Montgomerie’s design sits on sandy terrain between Da Nang and Hoi An, where wind and firm turf naturally shape strategy. Accessible in appearance, it quietly rewards discipline off the tee and restraint into the greens, providing Members with a relaxed yet engaging introduction to the tour and an immediate sense of rhythm to the golfing week.

Day 2: Ba Na Hills Golf Club shifted the tone sharply. Luke Donald’s layout climbs into forested elevation outside Da Nang, where changes in altitude and perspective became part of the shared experience for Members throughout the round. Defined by control rather than power, it demanded precision from tee to green, with the landscape shaping both shot-making and pace of play. Among the four rounds, it stood out for its sense of isolation and visual contrast, offering Members a completely different golfing environment.

Day 3: The third round at the Legend Danang Golf Resort, Norman Course, brought the group back to the coast. Greg Norman’s design is exposed and wind-influenced, with wide fairways that can mislead those unwilling to commit to precise lines. After golf, Members enjoyed a free and easy afternoon with an optional walking tour of Hoi An Old Town. The shift in pace was immediate, from open coastal fairways to lantern-lit streets, riverfront cafés and a slower, more atmospheric rhythm that contrasted sharply with the morning’s conditions.

Day 4: Hoiana Shores Golf Club provided a fitting and memorable conclusion to the tour for Members. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the links-style layout runs along the coastline south of Hoi An, where firm turf, open horizons and steady coastal winds tested every aspect of the game. It was a round that distilled golf to its essentials, demanding focus while offering Members a final shared challenge in a dramatic seaside setting.

At Hoiana Shores, the group was warmly welcomed by General Manager Wee Peng Siong, a fellow Singaporean, adding a quiet moment of familiarity and connection on the final day, which Members appreciated.

The day concluded with a farewell seafood dinner, where reflection, stories and shared highlights of the trip marked the end of the journey. The evening was accompanied by the familiar Vietnamese countdown toast “một, hai, ba, bốn” (“one, two, three, four”) as glasses were raised in unison over an abundant spread of fresh local seafood, bringing the group’s time in Da Nang to a fitting close.

Reflections In Their Own Words:

The strongest measure of the tour perhaps came not from scorecards, but from the reflections shared by Members upon returning home. Beyond the golf itself, many spoke warmly about the camaraderie, organisation and shared experiences that shaped the week.

Participating Members spoke fondly of the tour’s smooth organisation, quality golf and strong camaraderie throughout the journey.

Member Nicholas Goh shared: “It was a wonderful trip and great fellowship with all of you. It was a real blessing to make many new friends and also spend quality time with old friends.

“On behalf of the TMCC golf group, I would like to thank you for organising and taking such good care of us throughout our Danang trip, from the excellent golf courses and comfortable hotel to the memorable Hoi An city tour.

“We were especially blessed to end the trip on a high note with our round at Hoiana Shores Golf Club. The beautifully maintained fairways, attentive caddies, and cool weather made it a truly wonderful experience.”

Member Andrew Liew commented: “Our thanks to Elliott for a perfectly organised and thoroughly enjoyable golf experience. We leave with plenty of memories and new friendships, which is why we signed up in the first place.”

Members Peter and Yasmin shared: “The trip was a good experience, we enjoyed all the golf courses and the pleasant group of golfers. Thank you Elliott, for chaperoning us everywhere!”

Across the week, hospitality remained consistent across all venues. Caddie support, clubhouse service and on-course experience were uniformly strong, while Golfasian’s logistics ensured smooth movement between rounds without intrusion. The Pullman Danang Beach Resort anchored the itinerary, providing continuity between contrasting golf experiences. Supporting the delegation was a strong behind-the-scenes Marketing team. From coordinating flights and accommodation to arranging tee times, transfers and meals, their meticulous planning allowed Members to focus fully on enjoying the experience.

Da Nang’s strength as a golf destination lies in its balance rather than its singularity. Within a short radius, it offers coastal links influence, elevated forest golf and modern resort design, each distinct yet complementary.

For TMCC Members, this 5D4N journey was defined not by individual rounds, but by the thread that connected them. Four courses, four moods, one shared rhythm from first tee to final putt.
