Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC) is proud to announce its new affiliation with Blue Canyon Country Club, one of Asia’s most iconic golf destinations.
Situated in northern Phuket, just seven minutes from Phuket International Airport and a short drive from the island’s west coast resorts, Blue Canyon is a golfing landmark that combines championship pedigree with breathtaking tropical scenery.
Blue Canyon is home to two world-class courses. The Canyon Course, built in 1991 and known as “The Ultimate Championship Course,” has hosted top-tier events including the Johnnie Walker Classic and the Honda Invitational. The Canyon Course has secured its place in golf history as the only course to host the Johnnie Walker Classic three times, in 1994, 1998 and 2007.
Canyon Course
The Canyon Course has been a stage for golfing legends. In 1994, Greg Norman holed the decisive putt to reclaim his World No. 1 ranking, edging out Nick Faldo with a final-round 64. That same year, a young Tiger Woods made his mark as an amateur, finishing joint 34th and still holding the amateur course record of 71. Over the years, Blue Canyon has also welcomed international dignitaries and world leaders, including Bill Clinton and George Bush Sr., who have teed off alongside golfing icons such as Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Ernie Els, Gary Player, Colin Montgomerie, Thomas Bjørn and Grace Park.
Lakes Course
The Lakes Course, another championship marvel, features 270-yard target-driving areas capable of challenging the best players in the world. Sculpted from an opencast mining landscape, the course was designed with a foremost mission to maintain the integrity of the wildlife habitat and the existing land flow. True to its name, water hazards appear on 17 of the 18 holes, and the course boasts one of the best finishing holes in the region, perhaps the most difficult natural par-4 finish in golf. With a strategic range of tees, several demanding holes, wide fairways and generous greens to suit both master players and novices alike, the Lakes Course is one of the most luxurious and enjoyable 18-hole experiences in the region.
Both courses are masterpieces of design. They wind through natural canyons, woodlands and water features, integrating the environment seamlessly into the playing experience.
